National Humanities Center Thirtieth Anniversary Celebration
April 16-17, 2009
"Can we be arrested in our work for at least a moment and take thought about what it represents?"
Charles Frankel, April 7, 1979
Since our first director, Charles Frankel, first issued this challenge, over eleven hundred scholars have come to the National Humanities Center. On April 16-17 we will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the dedication of the Archie K. Davis Building, at which Frankel delivered these remarks. Festivities will begin with a Carolina pig pickin' on Thursday, April 16 and continue on Friday with a panel on the prospects for the humanities.
