Center Remembers Trustee Emeritus Stephen H. Weiss

Stephen H. Weiss (1935 - 2008)
The Trustees and staff of the National Humanities Center are deeply saddened by the death of Stephen H. Weiss on April 16. Stephen Weiss joined the Board of the National Humanities Center in 1996 and served as a trustee until his retirement from the Board in 2005, when he was elected Trustee Emeritus. He was chairman of the Center's investment committee and a member of the executive committee of the Board. In 2006 he permanently endowed the Meyer H. Abrams Senior Fellowship, which is awarded annually by the Center to a distinguished literary scholar.
All who knew Stephen Weiss at the National Humanities Center will gratefully remember his depth of judgment and generosity of spirit.
