"Corrosion & Desolation" Photographs by Greg Myhra
On Exhibit December 1, 2006 - February 28, 2007
News Release Date: November 21, 2006
Research Triangle Park, N.C.
In this black and white series, Raleigh-based photographer Greg Myhra
explores the largely solitary nature of the desertits unrelenting
forces apparent in the time-worn building and sign surfaces as well as
the local flora and geology. In many of the studies, medium format
plastic cameras are used, their distorted optics enforcing the feeling
of nostalgia and age particular to the subjects. Greg's images are
printed with the highest quality archival pigment inks on a variety of
fine art paper stocks. Prints are available as limited editions, which
are titled, numbered, and signed by the artist.
A fine art and advertising photographer by vocation, Myhra has a natural
and instinctive approach to producing both his commercial and personal
work. He is a self-taught photographer who opted for a more personalized
education in lieu of formal training. Recent exhibitions of his work
have appeared across the South and Midwest, and his photographs have
been in many publications, including Klik Showcase Photography and
Graphis Photo Annual.
