National Humanities Center Receives Wachovia Grant News Release Date: July 28, 2005 Research Triangle Park, NC. The National Humanities Center has received a $600,000 grant from Wachovia Corp. to add new materials focused on African American history, literature, and art to its Toolbox Library. The grant is part of a $10 million Wachovia initiative focused on preserving and promoting African-American history and culture; enhancing educational opportunities for African-Americans; and fostering economic opportunity for African-Americans. Since 1978 the Center has awarded fellowships to leading scholars in the humanities, whose work at the Center has resulted in the publication of more than 900 books in all fields of humanistic study.
